Locating Db2 Data Management Console home directory

IBM® Db2® Data Management Console supports both Script installer and GUI installer. This topic explains how to locate the IBM Db2 Data Management Console home directory that is used in both Script and GUI installation methods.

The IBM Db2 Data Management Console home directory <dmc_home> contains bin, support, setup and other folders.

Script installer

For the Script installer, <dmc_home> is the location where the installation package was decompressed after download.

For example, on the Windows platform, if the installation package of the script installer was decompressed to the below location:
C:\IBM\ibm-datamgmtconsole
then the path of <dmc_home> is:
C:\IBM\ibm-datamgmtconsole
GUI installer
  • Windows: Right-click on the IBM Db2 Data Management Console icon on the desktop and select Open file location. Continue to the resources\bin folder to find the <dmc_home> directory.

    For example, if the IBM Db2 Data Management Console was installed using GUI installer in the following location:

    C:\Program Files\IBM Db2 Data Management Console
    then the path of <dmc_home> is:
    C:\Program Files\IBM Db2 Data Management Console\resources\bin
  • Linux®: Find the location where you extracted the installation package, and enter the resources/bin directory to find the <dmc_home> directory. For example, if the installation package of the script installer was decompressed to the below location:
    /opt/IBM/ibm-datamgmtconsole
    then the path of <dmc_home> is:
    /opt/IBM/ibm-datamgmtconsole/resources/bin
  • Mac: In the Applications folder, right-click on IBM Db2 Data Management Console and select Show Package Contents. Enter Contents/Resources/bin directory to find the <dmc_home> directory. For example, the default <dmc_home> path is:
    /Applications/IBM Db2 Data Management Console.app/Contents/Resources/bin
