Supported upgrade paths

You must understand the supported upgrade path before setting up IBM® Db2® Data Management Console. It is important to determine the type of platform of your current IBM Data Server Manager and select the type of target platform to install IBM Db2 Data Management Console.

IBM Data Server Manager can run on platforms including Unix, Linux®, Windows, AIX®, pLinux and zLinux. IBM Db2 Data Management Console now can be installed on Linux, Windows, AIX , Mac, and zLinux platforms.

Upgrading your product on the same Linux or Windows server is supported by the setup script of IBM Db2 Data Management Console. Some workarounds are provided for distinct servers of homogeneous platforms. Upgrading between heterogeneous platforms are currently not supported.

Workaround 1: The installation folder of IBM Data Server Manager is first copied to the target Linux or Windows server and then the upgrading process is performed on the same server.

Workaround 2: It is a partial solution. The data of repository database could be migrated and an intermediate Linux server is required.
