Migrate data of repository database for other platforms

Currently upgrading from IBM® Data Server Manager to IBM Db2® Data Management Console is only supported on Linux® (exclude pLinux ) and Windows platform. If you are using IBM Data Server Manager on pLinux platform or if you want to install IBM Db2 Data Management Console on Mac platforms, upgrading is not supported.

About this task

This task provides a workaround for migrating data within the repository database. You can install IBM Db2 Data Management Console on the target platform without upgrading. Configure the repository database and leverage the original data in it.

Procedure

  1. Prepare an intermediate Linux server based on the system requirement of IBM Db2 Data Management Console.
  2. Copy the whole installation directory of IBM Data Server Manager from the source server to the intermediate Linux server. Please remember the path of this directory on the intermediate server. Do not try to start IBM Data Server Manager service at the intermediate server.
  3. Follow the steps provided in of Upgrading on the same server to complete the upgrade process on the intermediate Linux server. When the path of IBM Data Server Manager is required, you must enter the path of the directory on the intermediate server.
  4. On completing step 3, the data of the original repository database would have been migrated. Stop the service of IBM Db2 Data Management Console on the intermediate server.
  5. Install IBM Db2 Data Management Console product on your target system. Refer to Running the setup program.
  6. Configure the repository database of IBM Db2 Data Management Console to be the original repository of IBM Data Server Manager. Refer to Repository setting
