Updating configuration parameters

IBM® Db2® Data Management Console administrators can update the database manager configuration and database configuration parameters

Procedure

To view and edit the configuration parameters:

  1. Log in to Db2 Data Management Console.
  2. Go to Data > Configuration.
    In the Instance and Database tabs:
    • The parameters are grouped into different categories. To collapse or expand the parameters, click Collapse all or Expand all.
    • Use the search box in the toolbar to search for the parameters.
    • To filter the parameters with pending changes, click the Filter icon in the toolbar. The Pending change cell displays a dash (-) if there is no pending change for the parameter.
    • To change or edit the configuration parameters, click Edit in the toolbar. In edit mode, you can do the following:
      • Specify a new value in the Value column.
      • Set the configuration modification method in the Modification column. If the parameter supports only manual modification method, the cell displays manual method.
      • Set whether the new configuration should take effect immediately after clicking Save button or after restarting the instance (for a database manager) or reactivating the database (for a database).
    • To view the generated SQL commands for the changed configuration parameters, click View command in the toolbar. You can also format and copy the SQL commands as needed.
    • To execute the changed configuration parameters, click Save in the toolbar.
    In the Instance and Database tabs, for HADR database, you can switch the primary and standby nodes in the left drop-down list to show and edit parameters for selected node.
    • In view mode, you can view whether the current configuration parameters apply to all nodes or partial nodes in Nodes column. You can click the Compare icon to view and edit the configuration parameters for one or more nodes.
    • In edit mode, you can set the configuration parameters for the current selected node. You can also set the configuration parameters for multiple nodes by selecting multiple nodes in the left drop-down list.
    In the Database tab, for Db2 database partitioning feature (DPF) and pureScale, you can switch the multiple partitions (for DPF) or members (for pureScale) in the left drop-down list to show and edit parameters for the selected partitions (for DPF) or members (for pureScale).
    • In view mode, you can view whether the current configuration parameters apply to all partitions (for DPF) or members (for pureScale), or partial partitions (for DPF) or members (for pureScale) in the Partitions (for DPF) or Members (for pureScale) column. You can click the Compare icon to view and edit the configuration parameters for multiple partitions (for DPF) or members (for pureScale).
    • In edit mode, you can set the configuration parameters for the current selected partition (for DPF) or member (for pureScale). You can also set the configuration parameters for multiple partitions (for DPF) or members (for pureScale) by selecting the multiple partitions (for DPF) or members (for pureScale) in the left drop-down list.

    For Db2 on Cloud and Db2 Warehouse on Cloud, you can only view the database manager (instance) and database configuration parameters. You cannot edit the configuration parameters.
