Default product setup

Set up IBM® Data Server Manager (DSM) with the default settings by extracting the product archive and running the setup program.

Before you begin

Procedure

To set up DSM:

  1. Run the setup program.
The setup program is stored in the setup_directory/ibm-datasrvrmgr directory where you extracted the product. For example, on Windows, the setup file is found in the following folder:
    C:\DSM\ibm-datasrvrmgr\setup.bat
    • Windows: Run the setup_directory/ibm-datasrvrmgr/setup.bat file as a user with Administrator privileges.
    • Linux and UNIX: Run the setup_directory/ibm-datasrvrmgr/setup.sh file as a user ID with write access to the setup_directory directory.
  2. Respond to the setup program prompts:
    License agreement
Select to indicate that you have read the license text and that you accept its terms.
    User ID
The default administrator user ID that will be used to administer the product. The user ID is specific to the product and is independent of operating system user IDs.
    Password
The password for the default administrator user ID.
    Web console HTTP access
The port that is used to access the DSM web console from a web browser.
    Web console HTTPS access
The secure port that is used to access the DSM web console from a web browser.
Status port used internally for checking and stopping the server
The port that is used internally to verify the status of the server and to stop the server.

Results

DSM is installed.

What to do next

Log in to the DSM web console as the default administrator user ID that you specified. Use one of the following URLs:
  • https://server_host_name_or_ip:https_port/console
Note: When using versions of DSM older than V2.1.5, omit /console from the URL path.

Use the user ID and the password that you specified to log in to the web console. After you open the web console, configure the product.
