Downloading and Installing IBM Data Studio

You can develop and run Db2 Big SQL queries by using an appropriate version of IBM Data Studio.

About this task

In addition to using the JSqsh client from the Linux command line, or the Db2 Big SQL console from the Db2 Big SQL service, you can run your Db2 Big SQL queries in IBM Data Studio. By using Data Studio, your query result sets are formatted in an easy-to-read fashion and the queries are typically organized in scripts within projects. The Data Source Explorer view in Data Studio includes all of the Db2 Big SQL data bases, tables, views, and associated columns, so that you can see your SQL environment at a glance.

Procedure

  1. Download IBM Data Studio.
  2. Select to download the Data Studio client.
  3. When you complete the download, depending on your operating system, run one of the following commands as administrator:
    Windows
    Run IBMIM_win32.exe.
    Linux
    Extract the compressed file and run Install.
