Hardware and software requirements for the Db2ZAI installation

Preparing for installation involves obtaining the Db2® AI for z/OS® (Db2ZAI) product code and readying your system environment. Db2ZAI has specific system, network, user access, and security requirements. You must satisfy these requirements before you install Db2ZAI.

Required product code package

The Db2ZAI installation has been simplified for version 1.6.0 with the inclusion of embedded Spark, WebSphere Liberty, Node.js, and Bash.

IBM® distributes the Db2ZAI product code in SMP/E RELFILE format. Order product Product ID 5698-CGN IBM Db2 AI for z/OS 1.6.0, which delivers FMID HCOY160.
Note: IBM releases new and enhanced Db2ZAI functions as they become available. To exploit these functions, install the latest maintenance packages (APARs/PTFs) for your Db2, z/OS, and Db2ZAI. See Migrating IBM Db2 AI for z/OS for details.
Note: Db2ZAI requires you to implement Resource Recovery Services (RRS) on your target Db2 systems. See Implementing RRS for stored procedures during installation.

Hardware and software requirements for Db2ZAI 1.6.4.2

Db2ZAI requires the following hardware, software, and integrated development tools. Make sure that you meet all the prerequisites before the installation.

  • IBM Db2 AI for z/OS LPAR requirements
    IBM z/OS maintenance:
    • For z/OS 2.5, with specific required PTFs applied: UI78912, UI80156, UI81095, UI83424, UI95696, and UO04933.
    • For z/OS 3.1, or later:
    IBM zEnterprise® EC12 system or later.
    Db2 13 for z/OS or later.
    Product level required for Db2ZAI 1.6.4.2: PH72124, PH72125, PH72127, PH72128, and PH72478
  • Target Db2 LPAR requirements
    IBM zEnterprise® EC12 system or later.
    IBM Db2 13 for z/OS (either 5698-DB2 or 5698-DBV), function level V13R1M100 or later activated with the following maintenance:
    • Required: APARs PH52152, PH61340, and PH69801
    • Recommended: APARs PH52441, PH57723, PH62486, PH65972, and PH68641
  • IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS Version 21 (5655-JB1, FMID HJVBL00)

Hardware and software requirements for Db2ZAI 1.6.4

Db2ZAI requires the following hardware, software, and integrated development tools. Make sure that you meet all the prerequisites before the installation.

  • IBM Db2 AI for z/OS LPAR requirements
    IBM z/OS maintenance:
    • For z/OS 2.5, apply UI78912, UI80156, UI81095, and UI83424.
    • For z/OS 3.1, no maintenance to apply.
    IBM zEnterprise® EC12 system or later.
    Db2 13 for z/OS or later.
    Product level required for Db2ZAI 1.6.4: PH70033, PH70034, PH70035, PH70036, and PH71475
  • Target Db2 LPAR requirements
    IBM zEnterprise® EC12 system or later.
    IBM Db2 13 for z/OS (either 5698-DB2 or 5698-DBV), function level V13R1M100 or later activated with the following maintenance:

    Note: Db2ZAI 1.6.0 plus APAR PH62110 and PH62111 (October, 2024) has been tested and is compatible with both with IBM 64-Bit SDK z/OS Java version Java 8 SR8 FP 15 and IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS version 17.0.11.

Db2ZAI requires the following hardware, software, and integrated development tools. Make sure that you meet all the prerequisites before the installation.

  • IBM Db2 AI for z/OS LPAR requirements
    IBM z/OS maintenance:
    • For z/OS 2.5, apply UI78912, UI80156, UI81095, and UI83424.
    • For z/OS 3.1, no maintenance to apply.
    IBM zEnterprise® EC12 system or later.

  • Target Db2 LPAR requirements

    Note: Db2ZAI 1.6.0 plus APAR PH62110 and PH62111 (October, 2024) has been tested and is compatible with both with IBM 64-Bit SDK z/OS Java version Java 8 SR8 FP 15 and IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS version 17.0.11.
Note: For Db2, required maintenance must be applied on all members of a data sharing group.
Note:

If you have Db2ZAI installed and running with Db2 12, and you migrate to Db2 13, you need to rebind the DSNML packages.

To rebind all DSNML packages, issue the following command:

REBIND PACKAGE(DSNML.*.(V1))
Tip: You do not need to apply Db2 APARs or PTFs against the metadata Db2, provided that the metadata Db2 is only used to store metadata and not Db2 target data.
