Using multichain wallets

Use the same wallet address across multiple EVM networks to simplify asset management and recover tokens sent on the wrong network.

A single signing key in IBM Digital Asset Haven can be used across multiple blockchains as long as the key scheme and elliptic curve are compatible. The primary use case is maintaining the same wallet address across Ethereum and EVM compatible networks such as Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon. This is useful when:
  • You want the same address across multiple chains
  • You need to recover tokens sent to the correct address but on a different network
  • You are bridging assets and want IBM Digital Asset Haven to track balances on each network
You can create only one wallet per network for a given key.
Prerequisites
  • You have an existing wallet on any EVM network such as Ethereum
  • You know the key ID of that wallet. The key ID appears in the wallet details.
Create a wallet on another network using the same key
  1. Go to Wallets and open the wallet whose address you want to reuse on another network.
  2. Open the menu and select Add Network.
Note: The network displayed under the wallet name.
  3. Select the target network such as Base and enter a name if needed.
  4. Select Add Network. Sign the action with your passkey.

You now have a new wallet on the selected network that shares the same address as the original wallet. Your new wallet shares the same address as the original wallet. Balances on each network are tracked separately in IBM Digital Asset Haven. Deleting one of the wallets deletes the underlying key and all wallets that depend on that key. Use caution when removing multichain wallets.
