DataPower Gateway for KVM
DataPower® Gateway for KVM enables the deployment of a DataPower Gateway as a Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) on Linux®. The deployment process uses an archive to create a DataPower Gateway on the virtual machine.
IBM provides one archive file for each virtual edition offering.
- xxx.prod.img.gz is the KVM production file.
- xxx.nonprod.img.gz is the KVM nonproduction file.
- xxx.dev.img.gz is the KVM developers file.
Tip: A KVM accesses resources that they are provisioned with. For successful deployment,
you must understand the nature of your network environment.
To install the DataPower Gateway, the host must be running a supported 64-bit version of Linux.
The absolute minimum resource allocation depends on expected workload and edition.
After deployment, you can increase resource settings to meet workload requirements.
- Without API workload
- The minimum resource allocation is 4 vCPU (virtual processors) and 4 GB RAM.
- With API workload
- The minimum resource allocation is 4 vCPU and 8 GB RAM independent of edition.
You can deploy DataPower Gateway for KVM with either the Cockpit web console or the
virt-install command.
- To deploy with the Cockpit web console, see Deploying DataPower Gateway for KVM with the Cockpit web console.
- To deploy with the virt-install command, see Deploying DataPower Gateway for KVM with the virt-install command.
