Creating a URL refresh policy

A URL refresh policy enables the periodic refresh of specific stylesheets. With a URL refresh policy, an XML manager periodically reloads a cached stylesheet. The stylesheet is reloaded if its URL conforms to a refresh policy rule.

About this task

URL maps in the URL refresh policy define match expressions that trigger specific refresh rules. The rule type specifies whether stylesheets are cached. When cached, how stylesheets are treated when capacity is exceeded. Cached stylesheets that match any of the conditions in these maps are periodically refreshed by their associated refresh policy.

For a refresh policy, frequent updates increase processing load on the DataPower® Gateway and external systems. Design the policy to provide for more frequent updates of stylesheets that change and less frequent updates for stable stylesheets.
