Managing IPMI users
An Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) user can create, change, or delete user authentication records in the baseboard management controller (BMC).
About this task
Authentication records allow users to communicate with IPMI protocols over external channels, such as an IPMI LAN channel. On the physical DataPower® Gateway, the maximum is eight IPMI users.
Note: Because the password is in only the BMC, it is not included in an export or a backup
operation. Because the password is not part of an export, the password is not added during an import
or a restore operation.
The authentication credentials are the name and password.
Note: If you apply the configuration
but do not save it, the IPMI user data is written to the BMC but not
saved to the startup configuration. In this situation, the IPMI user
can connect to the serial port over the IPMI LAN channel.
