IBM Datacap Version 9.1.10 has the following new features, functions, and enhancements.

IBM Datacap Recognition Engine Enhancements
  • The PDFFREDocumentToImage action in the Convert action library has been enhanced, resulting in improved memory efficiency.
  • OCR/A: The recognition engine has been updated, and memory usage is optimized.
  • OCR/S: The recognition engine actions have been improved.
  • OCR/PL: OCR/PL actions now support multiple Rulerunner threads, allowing more than one thread to perform recognition using the RecognizeOCRPL actions.

IBM Datacap Action Libraries enhancements and updates

  • The new IBMFileNetP8 action library replaces the deprecated FileNetP8 action library.
  • The @STRING() smart parameter now supports plus signs (+), allowing them to be included without being interpreted as symbols.
  • The RedactByRegularExpression action now correctly handles parameters that include smart parameter symbols.
  • The OpenLookupConnection action now properly supports encrypted connections.
  • The Barcode action can now be configured to use a temporary directory that is distinct from the batch folder.
  • The FPXML actions in the Datacap Flex application are now executing as expected.
  • The default model in the SetModel action in the watsonx.ai action library has been updated, but applications still have the flexibility to customize the model for watsonx.ai transactions.
  • An issue where the AdjustMergedCCOPositions actions in the ZonesAndLineItems action library occasionally failed to correctly adjust text near page edges has been resolved.

IBM Datacap Server Services enhancements and updates

Restarting RRProcessor.exe After Task Execution

To ensure proper memory and resource reset on the Rulerunner server and prevent unpredictable outcomes, restart RRProcessor.exe after each task execution, regardless of batch processing status.

Dump Task XML and Process IDs to Rulerunner Logs

Enable the configurable RR registry setting to log the contents of the task XML file and process IDs to the Rulerunner thread log for diagnostic purposes.

Enhanced Logging for Station Count Debugging

Datacap introduces Extended Checking, a new registry setting that enables additional diagnostic logging in the TMS logs.

IBM Datacap Navigator

Printing from the Local Rendering Viewer

In previous releases, the Local Rendering Viewer did not support printing. Starting with this release, when the Scan Client is configured to use the Local Rendering Viewer and the viewer is initialized, the toolbar now includes a Print icon (highlighted in green).

Jumping to Highlighted Fields When Zoomed

The Virtual Viewer now automatically jumps to the highlighted field on the page when it is zoomed in. Additionally, this feature prevents users from zooming in so far that the page moves outside the viewport.

Configuring Dynamic Web TWAIN Service for CORS

You can configure the Dynamic Web TWAIN Service (64-bit) to support Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS). By default, CORS is disabled. To enable it, follow the instructions under the Access-Control-Allow-Origin section on the Dynamsoft support page.

Deprecated Datacap Action Libraries
The following action libraries are deprecated but remain available in Datacap version 9.1.10.
Removed Datacap Action Libraries
The following action libraries, previously deprecated in earlier versions, have been removed in Datacap 9.1.10. Applications that use these libraries must be updated before they can run on this version.
Changes to Datacap Convert Action Libraries

The following Convert actions have been removed. Default values are now automatically applied for these actions and can no longer be customized. As a result, document conversions may produce different formatting than in previous versions of Datacap.

If fingerprints were created based on the previous conversion results, you may need to update those fingerprints to reflect the new formatting changes.
