Data Sources
Model Context Protocol (MCP) data sources enable the IBM® Cyber Fraud application to connect to external MCP servers, providing access to tools and services that extend the application's functionality.
About MCP data sources
MCP data sources support multiple transport protocols and authentication methods, allowing flexible integration with various server configurations. Each data source can be individually configured with connection parameters, authentication credentials, and security settings.
Data sources provide the foundation for connecting to external services that enhance the application's capabilities. Once configured, these connections remain persistent across application restarts and enable dependent tools to function properly.
Network requirements
Ensure the server URL is accessible from your network before attempting to connect. Network connectivity between the IBM Cyber Fraud application and the MCP server is essential for successful data source operation.
Tool dependencies
Tools depend on data sources to function. Ensure data sources remain connected for tools to operate correctly. If a data source is disconnected or deleted, any tools that depend on it will become unavailable.
Prerequisites
Before configuring MCP data sources, ensure you have:
- Access to the IBM Cyber Fraud application
- Appropriate user permissions to create and manage data sources
- MCP server endpoint URL and connection details
- Authentication credentials (if required by the MCP server)
- Network connectivity to the MCP server
- CA certificate (if using self-signed certificates)
