Using ABARS as your backup utility

ABARS backups are fully supported by CICS® VR for recovery and change accumulation. CICS VR provides the ability to keep an inventory of ABARS backups in the RCDS. CICS VR also contains support to display and restore the registered backups.

Prior to using ABARS as your backup utility, you must use the supplied version from the load module DWWUIXIT included in the SDWWLOAD to replace a dummy version of the DFSMSdss Options Installation Exit Routine (ADRUIXIT) as described in z/OS® DFSMS Installation Exits. You can use the supplied sample DWWUIXIT included in the SDWWCNTL to change the load module name from DWWUIXIT to ADRUIXIT as required for DFSMSdss.
