Sharing reports
There are multiple ways for team members to work together using the same report.
Storing the report in a shared data set
To use this method, ensure that the selected output location is one all parties have access to.
- When performing a new scan, enter the name of a shared data set member in the COBOL Upgrade Advisor output location input area.
Complete the rest of the scan as normal.
The report opens automatically for the person who generates the report. Other team members need to following the remaining instructions to open the report.
- In Zowe™ Explorer, select the magnifying glass next to the profile used to generate the initial report.
- Search for the output folder and find the shared data set member that was used to store the generated report.
- Open the context menu of the shared data set, and select Show COBOL Upgrade Advisor Report.
Anyone with access to the shared data set member can open the report.
Sending the report from the mainframe to a local machine
This method allows users to share the JSON file that contains the metadata of any report with anyone else on the team, regardless of the access level.
- After the scan is performed, copy or transfer the JSON file report from z/OS to your local machine.
This step needs to be completed by a team member with mainframe access. This file can then be shared with other members of the team.
- In the VS Code toolbar, select to open the folder where the report JSON is stored.
- Open the context menu of the report JSON file, and select Show COBOL Upgrade Advisor Report.
Anyone with their own copy of the report can open the report.
