Follow these steps to configure the File Monitor Service by
using remote syslog on windows. You can use this service to capture information from
csmMessage.log file.
Procedure
Install remote syslog or File Monitor Service on Copy Services
Manager server.
Set the necessary rule and corresponding action.
Define a new rule set.
In the configuration wizard, enter the name of the rule.
Click Next and select the rule that is mentioned in previous
step.
Click Finish on the confirmation page to create the rule
set.
In the main window, expand the created rule set from the navigation window.
Select Action level of the selected rule set.
Configure the Action.
Enter IP or hostname of your syslog server.
Select the Protocol Type.
Set the Syslog port.
Click Save to apply the changes. Then, restart the
service.
Setup File Monitor Service.
Go to Add Service and then File
Monitor.
In the configuration wizard, create the name of the service. Use default settings and
press Next.
Click Finish on the confirmation page.
In the main window, expand Services from navigation
window.
Select the newly created service, click Browse, and select
csmMessage.log file. This file is usually present at
path_prefix/opt/IBM/CSM/wlp/usr/servers/csmServer/logs/CSM.
Select the created rule set.
Save the changes and restart the application.
Results
The File Monitor now sends all the incoming Copy Services
Manager messages to the external syslog server.
