Adding a new user to the basic user registry

You can add a new user to the basic user registry.

About this task

Perform the following steps to add a user to the basic user registry:

Procedure

  1. Log in to Copy Services Manager as a user with administrator privileges.
  2. In the menu bar, click Settings > Administration.
  3. On the Administration page, click Add Access above the Copy Services Manager (CSM) user names box. The Add Access wizard is displayed.
  4. The Create a new User in the Basic User Registry option is selected by default. Enter a new user name, password, confirm the password, and click Next.
    Notes:
    • The user name cannot contain spaces, tabs, or any of the following special characters: " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , / : ; < = > ? [ \ ] ^ } | {
    • User names must be unique between the basic user registry and LDAP.
    • Avoid having the same user ID with different cases. When you have multiple user IDs that are the same spelling, but different case, and remove one of them, other case-variations of that user name might also be removed from the Copy Services Manager access control list. This scenario can cause unintended consequences when other case variations of the same user ID attempt to log in.
  5. A window will prompt you to select What level of access should the user have? Select the role to associate with the new user. Click Next.
  6. If you selected the Operator role, choose whether you want the Operator to Manage all sessions or individually Select sessions to manage. After making your selection, click Next.
  7. A window will prompt you to select What actions should the operator be allowed to perform? You can choose between Default operator actions against managed sessions or Select which actions to allow against managed sessions. After making your selection, click Next.
  8. This step is optional. Enter one or more email addresses (separated by commas) associated to the user. Then, click Next.
  9. A window will display an Access Summary, including Access Level, User name, Email Addresses (if any), Sessions Managed, and Actions Allowed. Click Finish to exit the wizard.
  10. On the Administration page, a bar will appear at the bottom of the Administration icon indicating the successful completion of a new access. For example:
    Add Access : IWNR4036I : Success : (Open Console) : Completed
