Cannot communicate with the management server due to a null request

Problem

After logging in to the Copy Services Manager GUI using Internet Explorer, you might receive the following error message: Unable to communicate with server due to null data request.

Action

Perform these steps from Internet Explorer to resolve the issue:

• Copy Services Manager, add the URL for the Copy Services Manager GUI to the Trusted Sites zone by performing these steps:
  1. Click Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Click the Security tab, and then click the Trusted site icon.
  3. Click Sites.
  4. Enter the Copy Services Manager GUI URL, and then click Add.
  5. Click OK.
• Ensure that the Active X settings are enabled by performing these steps:
  1. Click Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Click the Security tab, and then click the Internet icon.
  3. Click Custom Level.
  4. Enable the following settings:
     • Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
     • Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
