Received an IWNR2111E error

This condition occurs during operation of Metro Mirror or Global Mirror sessions with SAN Volume Controller or Storwize® storage systems.

Problem

You get the following message you issue the Start command to a Metro Mirror or Global Mirror session:

IWNR2111E: [timestamp] The session cannot be started because a SAN Volume 
Controller partnership between cluster [cluster_1] and cluster [cluster_2] 
does not exist.

For inter-cluster data replication to work, a partnership must exist between the clusters that you are using. Copy Services Manager does not create this partnership.

Action

Use the storage system command-line interface or graphical user interface to create the partnership before you issue the Copy Services Manager Start command on the session.
