Received an IWNR1824E error

This condition occurs when you run a HyperSwap®-related command for a session and HyperSwap is not available.

Problem

You received the following message:
IWNR1824E The command was not run for the session_name session
because IBM Copy Services Manager cannot communicate
with the HyperSwap process.
This error might be produced for the following reasons:
  • The active server does not have a version of IBM® z/OS® that supports HyperSwap.
  • The HyperSwap process is not running.
  • The security settings on the active server are preventing Copy Services Manager from communicating with DFSMS/SDM and the HyperSwap process.
  • The active server has two or more z/OS hosts that are defined with different system or sysplex names, but the session is not associated with a specific system or sysplex.
  • The active server has two or more z/OS hosts that are defined with different system or sysplex names, and one of the hosts is disconnected. In this scenario, the system or sysplex that is defined for the disconnected host might be considered unknown. For example, if the active server is using both a z/OS native and IP connection and a takeover is completed on a standby server that is either not a z/OS system or is a z/OS system that is outside of the sysplex, the z/OS native connection is disconnected on the new active server.

Action

Verify that the z/OS level is correct on the active server; the HyperSwap process is running; and that security settings (such as RACF®) are configured correctly. For the required security settings, see the IBM Copy Services Manager online product documentation (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSESK4), and search for the topic "Configuring the IWNRACF jobs"Configuring the IWNRACF jobs.

If multiple z/OS hosts are defined, ensure that a system or sysplex name is associated with the session and that there are no disconnected or unused z/OS host connections. An example of an unused z/OS host connection is a z/OS native connection on an active server that is not a z/OS system.
