Managing logical paths
Logical paths define the relationship between a source logical subsystem (LSS) and a target LSS that is created over a physical path. To configure logical paths for IBM® DS8000® use the ESS/DS Paths panel in Copy Services Manager.
About this task
Note: When modifying one or more Copy Services replication logical paths,
including the WAN, it is important to stop replication first. Failure to do so may result in
suspension of any Copy Services relationships associated with the switches and ISL's and possibly an
unplanned HyperSwap event in the case of Metro Mirror sessions.

Once the network update is complete, the logical paths may need to be "toggled" via the DS CLI command 'setioport'. By changing the port topology from SCSI-FCP to FICON and back, will force the DS8000 to log out and log back into the fabric, therby rebuilding the logical definitions that were changed. For more information see "Configuring IO port protocols" and "setioport" in the DS CLI commands. |
