ESS Network Interface log files

The locations of the ESS Network Interface (ESSNI) log files are essential to communications with the storage system.

ESSNI is the network layer that is used by multiple clients to communicate with and manage the ESS and DS storage systems. For example, CIM agent, DS8000 Command-Line Interface (DS CLI), and the DS8000 Storage Management GUI.

The ESSNI log files are in the distributed systems directory path_prefix/liberty/wlp/usr/servers/csmServer/logs/essniTrace. For z/OS, the log files are in the directory path_prefix/opt/IBM/CSM/wlp/usr/servers/csmServer/logs/essniTrace.

The following files are in the directory:
  • niClient.log
  • niClient.log_bk
  • niTransmission.log
  • niTransmission.log_bk
