Cannot log on to the GUI

This condition occurs when you try to log on to the Copy Services Manager GUI.

Problem

There are a number of possible reasons for this problem:
  • The Copy Services Manager server is not started or is loading.
  • The user name or password is incorrect or is not defined in the user registry. The basic user registry, LDAP registry, or z/OS operating system repository, such as RACF, defines the users for Copy Services Manager. The user name and password must match a user in the registry.
  • Copy Services Manager cannot access the user registry. For an LDAP registry, the csmAuth server must be running under Copy Services Manager to be able to authenticate to the LDAP server. In addition, Copy Services Manager must be able to access the server that maintains the LDAP registry.
  • Cookies are disabled in the web browser.

Action

Perform one or more of these steps to resolve this issue:
  • Ensure that the Copy Services Manager server is running.
  • Ensure that you are using the correct user name and password and that the user is defined in the user registry that is used for authentication.
  • Ensure that the Copy Services Manager csmAuth server is running and that no firewall or network issues are blocking access to the LDAP server.
Tip: If Copy Services Manager is unable to access the LDAP server, you can log on by using a basic user registry user. For example, you can log on as the user who was defined when Copy Services Manager was installed on a distributed server.
  • Ensure that cookies are enabled for the web browser.
