You must use a Hardware Management Console (HMC) connection to connect to an IBM® DS8000® storage system if the system is a DS8700 or
later or is on an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) network.
About this task
Complete the following steps to add
a storage system connection:
Procedure
- In the menu bar, click .
- On the Storage Systems page, click Add
Storage Connection.
- Click the DS8000 icon.
-
On the Connection page of the Add Storage System wizard, complete the
following fields.
- Primary HMC
- Enter the IP address or host name for the primary HMC. Although either an IP address of a host
name are acceptable, the use of a host name ensures that connection to the HMC is not lost if the IP
address changes.
You cannot modify the primary IP address or host name for the HMC after you add
the connection. If you want to change the IP address or host name, you must add a new connection
specifying the new IP or hos name and then once connected, remove the old connection.
- Secondary HMC (Optional)
- If the storage system is setup with Dual HMCs, specify the IP address or host name for the
secondary HMC. Specifying the secondary HMC connection provides redundancy to the storage system in
the event that the primary HMC is down.
- Credentials
-
- Username
- Enter the user name for authenticating to the HMC.
- Password or PassTicket Key
- Enter the password or a Passticket Key for the user name entered. DS8000 supports
authentication using PassTickets if the DS8000 is configured for LDAP authentication through z/OS
RACF.
- Application Name (Passticket Only)
- If using a PassTicket to authenticate, specify the application name to use. Leave blank if not
using a PassTicket.
Note: The Application Name would be the name of the LDAP
started task for z/OS RACF.
- Click Next and follow the instructions in the wizard.
