Terminology

An Edge Gateway is a Kubernetes-based container deployment environment that you can use to host containers for communications between IBM Security QRadar® Suite Software and your data sources, or to host IBM® Security QRadar SOAR app containers.

You can pair an Edge Gateway to only one IBM Security QRadar Suite Software account. However, you can pair a single IBM Security QRadar Suite Software account to multiple Edge Gateways to help organize data sources or access different network zones.

An IBM Security QRadar SOAR app is a collection of playbook components, code executables or both that represent an end-to-end function and is deployed to the IBM Security QRadar SOAR application. Apps are available in a format that supports Kubernetes-based container environments

The Edge Gateway service is a service that runs on the IBM Security QRadar Suite Software platform. It interfaces with the Edge Gateway and drives the various management operations such as configuration, deployment, and restarts.

The Edge Gateway controller is a controlling application on the Edge Gateway. It manages containers and container-related operations that are sent from the Edge Gateway management service to the Edge Gateway.
