Deleting vaults
A vault can be deleted if it is no longer needed. Object vaults take approximately 20 minutes per TB to delete. To minimize the operational impact, create new vaults, then delete the old vaults.
About this task
Attention: Deleting a vault is a permanent action. You cannot recover or restore a
deleted vault.
You cannot delete a protected vault if the vault contains data.
If you delete a vault that is assigned to an IBM Spectrum Discover notification configuration, further action is required in IBM Spectrum Discover. For more information, see the IBM Spectrum Discover documentation.
Procedure
Click Delete, and specify your password to confirm the deletion of this
vault.
Note: If Vault Deletion Authorization is enabled, two System Administrators must approve deleting a
vault. In order to delete a vault, a System Administrator must first submit a deletion request. This
request must then be approved for deletion by another System Administrator within 24 hours of
submission.
As space is freed by the deletion process, it is made available for the new vault or vaults. The deletion progress, including progress for each Slicestor® device, is displayed on the Vaults landing page.
Attention: Any time a device is added or a vault, site,
cabinet, or an administration configuration is changed, the Manager device must be backed up by navigating to
.
Permanent data loss can occur if the Manager database becomes corrupted. Periodic backups must also
be performed to preserve historical statistics and log information. For details, click the
Settings tab, and navigate to
