Overview
This feature allows users to store objects in a write-once-read-many (WORM) fashion. This functionality is for users needing a more permanent policy (write-once) for data protection that prevents privileged users from deleting or modifying object versions that have an active Object Lock protection policy defined. This protection can be set on individual objects for fixed time periods or indefinitely (legal holds). Users can continue to read the objects (read-many) in the same manner as other stored objects. Object Lock is built on top of IBM Container Versioning functionality, allowing an additional layer of data retention. This combination of functionality provides an environment that can be suitable for regulatory needs and ransom ware protection.
