Suppressing device events

This capability suppresses events that are generated by a device and can be useful when, for example, a bad/misbehaving device is generating numerous events and email alerts.

About this task

CAUTION:
Enabling this feature does not suppress any events and must be set on each device.
Note: See managerAdmin_monitoring_disable_events_device.html for more on suppressing events on a specific device.

Examples of alerts that are suppressed by this feature include system command checks, SNPM checks, process checks, and CPU temperature checks. Email alerts are also deactivated.

The ability to suppress events on devices can be enabled/disabled:

Procedure

  1. On the Settings tab, navigate to Monitoring > Event Suppression.
  2. Check the Enable Event Suppression check box to enable suppression of events.
  3. Click Update.
