API support

All the standard OpenStack and CSO features are supported fully in a vault mirror system with one minor concern that occurs when both sites are not reachable at the same time.

CAUTION:
The S3 proxy feature is not supported.

Retention vaults do not support operations using OpenStack. Only CSO is supported for upload of objects to retention vaults (except for S3 proxy, which is not supported). Only the Manager GUI , Manager REST API, or Manager Provisioning Interface support configuration and creation of protected mirrors and the associated retention vaults.

For multi-part upload, all parts need to be written to a single site for the write to be complete. During a partition, some parts may write to one site, and some to the other. The individual uploads may all succeed, but the final completion of the write fails.

Performing multi-part uploads on a Vault Mirror will take longer as compared to performing the same operation on a standard Vault when one side of the Vault Mirror is slower to respond as compare to the other side.

An Accesser® Appliance may take longer to complete a multipart upload transaction on a Vault Mirror as compared to a standard vault due to:
  • The Accesser® Appliance requiring both sides of the Vault Mirror to be within three segment sizes before considering a part to be successfully uploaded.
  • The Accesser® Appliance requiring all parts of an object to be successfully uploaded to one side of the Vault Mirror before completing the Multipart upload transaction.
