Important: Disk Enclosure Firmware (FW) must be updated during first installation or disk enclosure will not be properly recognized by the controller Node..

Procedure has been updated from flyer shipping with appliance to use the right-hand ESM instead of the left-hand ESM.
Check the IBM Cloud® Object Storage documentation site for any updates to the procedure.
Might take up to 45 minutes for a full FW update.

After physical installation of the Disk Enclosure and controller in the rack, attach a single SAS cable between the rightmost SAS port on the rear of the controller and port 1 on the right-hand ESM of the Disk Enclosure.
Log in to the nut shell on the controller Node and run the FW update command:
```
#enclosure firmware upgrade 
```

After firmware update is complete check FW version by running the command:

 #enclosure firmware versions

Restart system and attach a second SAS cable to the right ESM.

Failure to update the Disk Enclosure FW can cause attached controller from booting correctly and disk enclosure be properly recognized within the IBM Cloud Object Storage System.
