New capabilities

In 3.14.8 release onwards, a feature functionality supports Name Index Format Version 4 and the ability to configure the Index Version for a standard vault. This feature allows a default of version 2 or version 4 to be specified at the system level and, optionally, at an individual storage pool. When a new standard vault is created, you will have the option to override the default and pick the Name Index Format to be either in the legacy Version 2 or the new Version 4. Vault Index Version 4 supports storing additional object’s metadata information in the Index along with the object names. As part of the S3 listing requests, all the information needed for the responses are available in the Index. Thus, the listing performance is significantly better, as there is no need for additional lookup of metadata of all objects included in the response.

Only standard vaults that have Index Version 4 configured can support the new Object Expiration feature that is available in this release and beyond. All planned future data lifecycle management features will only be supported on Standard Vaults which have Index Version 4 configured.
