Management information base reference

Explanation of the information base statistics.

Management information bases (MIBs) are hierarchical databases of network attached devices that are stored as text files. These MIBs identify individual components by using Object Identifiers (OIDs) that can be monitored by using Simple Network Management Protocol capable software packages. Each MIB file, called a module, defines the structure of data as a hierarchical namespace that represents the relationships between device components in a particular device subsystem, like a network router, printer, or storage device.
