Deploying vault mirrors and protected mirrors
A vault mirror and protected mirror combines two vaults from separate storage pools at different physical locations or sites. The resulting set of vaults is called a vault mirror. The system will mirror the data automatically across both sites. Each site individually retains availability and reliability characteristics of a vault deployed at a single site. When client system, via the Accesser® Nodes, are unable to write to both vaults across a network (network partition) or single site outage, they will synchronize data across the vault mirror once connectivity is restored. A vault mirror prioritizes availability above immediate data consistency across the vaults.
Note: For protected vault mirrors, it is expected that the client will not independently and
simultaneously perform modification operations on objects of same name to each side of a mirror
vault. If this occurred, there is a risk of data loss.
Also, vault mirrors allow for each
vault's data to be independently listed with an optional destination header. This capability can be
used for auditing purposes.
