Import data

In Controller Web, you can define lookup tables and import specifications, and validate and preview the data before you import it.

Lookup tables
You can define lookup tables in IBM® Controller Web, similar to defining lookup tables in the Controller rich client.
Import specifications
An import specification defines the type and characteristics of the file that is imported in to IBM Controller. The specification includes things such as file type, the format of numbers, and where to start reading and end reading in the file.
Add a file
After you have defined a lookup table and import specification, you can import data into Controller Web in the Add file tab.
Review errors
If there are any errors when you import data into IBM Controller, they are displayed in the Review errors tab.
Previewing data
The Import preview tab shows you a summary of the data before it is imported into Controller.
Viewing import summary
The Import summary message shows you a summary of the data after it has been successfully imported in to Controller.
Viewing Controller Web import logs
At any time during the import process, you can view import logs.
