Import Structures

You can import a structure file from a local directory.

Before you begin

Before you import structures for the first time, define your group and local languages in Maintain > Configuration > Define > Local Languages. Make a corresponding definition of Local Language in Maintain > User > Personal Defaults.

Back up the databases that contain change tables. If change tables for accounts, dimensions and companies are included in the import file, then the conversion is done when the file is imported.

IBM® Controller must be in single user mode. For more information, see Use Single and Multi-user Mode.

About this task

The movement accounts table (combinations between base accounts and movements accounts) is included in linked structures for the purposes of export and import. It is not exported with accounts or forms structures.

You can import an entire contents of the file to be imported or specific structures in the file.

If you are importing Lookup Tables Web, Import Specifications Web, or Rights structures, you must do the import in one of the following ways:
  • Import Rights at the same time as Lookup Tables Web and Import Specifications Web
  • Import Rights after Lookup Tables Web and Import Specifications Web are in the database you are importing to

Procedure

  1. On the Transfer menu, click Import Structures.
    The Import Structures window opens.
  2. If you are importing a compressed file, select the Directory that contains the .fzp to import. If you are importing structures that aren't compressed, select the Directory that contains the uncompressed files. In the text box, enter the path to the directory where the export file is saved, or click the Select Directory button to select a directory.
  3. Select the Keep Local Texts check box if you want to keep your existing local language names of structures.
If you don't select this option, all local language names are replaced by the local language names used by the Controller database that exported the file.
  4. Select the Rename File or Rename Folder check box.
The check box appears as Rename File if the import file is compressed and Rename Folder if the import files are uncompressed. If you select this check box, the file extension of the compressed file is changed or the name of the folder is changed after the import. This ensures that files that have been imported once are not imported again. This affects only files imported from a directory.
  5. In the list box, all structures in the import file are displayed. If you want a structure to be deleted before you import the structure file, select the Clear Old Structures check box.
Note: Use this option with care! Export current structures before you import a new file.
If the Clear old structures check box is not selected when you import linked structures - movement extensions, the following rules apply:
    • Link type codes that are found only in old installation remain in the structure
    • Link type codes with same names in old and new installation are overwritten
    • Link type codes that are found only in new installation are imported in the structure
If the Clear old structures check box is selected when you import linked structures - movement extensions, the following rules apply:
    • Link type codes that are found only in old installation are deleted
    • Link type codes with same names in old and new installation are overwritten
    • Link type codes that are found only in new installation are imported in the structure
  6. To clear all selections, click Deselect All.
  7. Click Run. The structures are imported.
  8. The Import ready window opens. Click Print to print the log report.

Results

If you import a company structure that belongs to a non-manual consolidation type, go to Maintain > Company Structure > Calculate Ownership Relations and update the consolidation structure.

You must have the correct investment register data to manually update the consolidation structure. For more information, see Import Data - the Investment Register Tab.
