If a user cannot be logged off using the log
off users procedure, you can force a log off of the user.
Note: Force
users to log off regardless of running applications should
be used only when logging off users that have been locked out of the
system.
Procedure
- On the Maintain menu, click User/Manage
Active Users.
The Manage Active
Users dialog box opens.
- Select the user or users you want to force to log off.
- Select the Force users to log off regardless
of running applications check box.
- Click Run.
If the
system has not been locked, and you try to log off users, a message
appears reminding you that the system has not been locked from new
users.
- Click No if you want to cancel the Force
users to log off regardless of running applications option,
and lock the system from new users.
- Click Yes to force the log off of
users without locking the system from new users.
A
message appears stating that users may still be running processes,
and by forcing the users to log off these processes may fail.
- Click Yes if you want to continue
the force log off operation.
- Click No, if you want to cancel
the force log off operation.
Results
- Terminating an active job is not handled by this function. If
you need to terminate a job you need to shut down the application
on the server.
- Batch queue jobs are not handled by this function. Jobs in the
batch queue will start normally even if the system is locked or in
single user mode.
