Administering users using IBMid authentication

You must link the IBM® Cognos® Controller users to IBMid.

Administration of users

In the Administration section of Controller Web there is a Users tile.

The Users tile has the following information:
  • Total Users
  • Enabled Users
  • Disabled Users
Click Users tile to view user details.

User Details

Click on the three dots on the user list to enable/disable the user status. Multi selection of users can be done by selecting the checkbox.

You can export the user list as a Microsoft Excel file. To export the users, select the users using the checkbox and click Download.
Note: The ADM user will not be part of the exported file and cannot be edited.

Manually adding a new IBMid user

On the Users window, click Add. The Add User window is displayed.

Enter the Name and IBMid fields and click Add. Name and IBMid fields are mandatory. The name must be the user id corresponding to the one created in Cognos Controller Classic. The IBMid user must be initially created using Sign up for My IBM account.

Importing multiple users

To import multiple users, click Import. The format of the file must be Microsoft Excel Open XML Spreadsheet (.xlsx) file and contain the following fields in this order : IBMid User, Controller user, Active, and Directive. These fields must be the part of the header (first row). The IBMid user must be initially created using Sign up for My IBM account.

The IBM Cognos Controller user must first be created in Cognos Controller Classic. If not, the user will not be imported. The column active must be T (True) if the user should be enabled or F (False) if the user should be disabled. The Directive are Add (if you want to add a new user) or Update (if you want to update an existing user).

Note: The maximum record numbers per file are 100 users.

All the records are processed and a summary of the number of records passed and failed is provided to the user. The Controller user ID is uniquely mapped with IBMid therefore duplicate entries are not allowed.
