Planning for installation
Before you install IBM® Control Center Monitor, you need to be aware of planning considerations regarding choosing an environment, operating system, and how you are going to install IBM Control Center Monitor.
For a more successful installation, answer the following questions before you install IBM Control Center
Monitor:
- Are you going to install IBM Control Center
Monitor for a high availability or
non-high availability environment?
- If you plan to have a high availability environment, the first event processor (EP) started becomes the controller EP. For more information, see Controller event processor.
- If you plan to have a high availability environment, do you want to configure your Jetty Web Application server to not automatically shut down when the EP is stopped?
- If you plan to have a high availability environment, do you want to configure an EP to run for event processing but without the Jetty Web Application server or Jasper Reports Library server running?
- What is your CPU allocation for each event processor (EP) in a high availability environment? If you are running at 80 percent or more CPU capacity with IBM Control Center Monitor V6.0, then in V6.1 you need to add more CPU. Adding more CPUs is necessary to properly scale an IBM Control Center Monitor environment with multiple EPs. For more information, see Detailed System Requirements.
