Setting a Server Assignment, Failover, and Monitoring Policy for an Event Processor

You can set server assignment, failover, and monitoring policies for an event processor in the IBM® Control Center Monitor web console. Setting these policies determines whether the following actions can occur: newly added servers can be assigned to event processors, monitored servers can be temporarily reassigned to other event processors when an event processor stops, or event processors can temporarily monitor other severs when another event processor stops.

About this task

Attention: You must be an IBM Control Center Monitor administrator to complete this task and have a high availability environment.

To set a server assignment, failover, and monitoring policy for an event processor:

Procedure

  1. In the IBM Control Center Monitor web console, click Manage > Event processors.
  2. In the navigation pane, select the event processor for which you want to set the failover and load balancing policy.
  3. In the Event processor details tab, click the Server assignment, failover, and monitoring policies accordion.
  4. Click to enable or disable the following options:
    • Accept newly added servers
    • Accept servers from failed event processors
    • Allow other event processors to monitor servers upon failure
  5. Click Save.

Results

When the monitoring policy of an event processor is changed, an audit log entry is created that displays the current and previous values for the policies of the event processor. Also, the rules with the message ID CNCD032E "Server Updated, ID: serverID, by: userID" are triggered.
