Importing Rules

You can import rules that were exported from another IBM® Sterling Control Center Monitor instance into your instance. The imported rules appear in the IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor web console.

About this task

Attention: Only a user with the administer permission can import rules.
To import rules into your IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor instance:

Procedure

  1. In the IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor web console, click Manage > Rules.
  2. Click Import rule.
  3. Click Browse and select the .zip file that you saved during the export procedure. Click OK.
    Important:

The .zip file that you save during the export procedure cannot be modified. If you modify the .zip file, then the rule import action that uses the modified .zip file might fail.

  4. Select the rules that you want to import in the Import rule dialog.
When the dialog is displayed, the following rules might be included:
    • Rules that are selectable and checked, which do not have conflicts with the rules and related objects in the target IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor instance.
    • Rules that are selectable but not checked, which have one or more conflicts with rules and related objects in the target IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor instance. If you select the rule and import it, then the rule in the target IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor instance is overwritten.
    • Rules that are not selectable, which cannot be imported into the target IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor instance. The rule has a related server, server group, or data visibility group that is not in the target IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor instance. If you want to import the rule, hover over the error icon to read a detailed message about the missing objects, then add the related server, server group, or data visibility group to the target IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor instance.
  5. Click OK to import the rules.
