Viewing Server Activity

You can view completed processes and queued processes on one server, a server group, or all servers of one or more types in the Completed processes and Queued processes monitors.

About this task

You can view the Completed processes and Queued processes monitors in the IBM® Sterling Control Center Monitor web console. Because IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor does not know about FTP or Sterling Connect:Enterprise® activity until that activity occurs, the Queued processes monitor is unavailable for those server types.

Important: Depending on the server IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor is monitoring, you can have functionality limitations in IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor with that server. See the Release notes to see what functionality is available with your server.

In the Queued processes list, users who have roles with data visibility group restrictions have access to only the process steps that are associated with their group. As a result, data visibility group restricted users cannot delete, suspend, or release queued processes. In the Completed processes list, users with data visibility group restrictions see only the completed processes that are tagged for the data visibility groups that are associated with their role. However, unrestricted users can see the maximum number configured by the administrator.

Tip: In the IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor web console, you can use an existing process to set up monitoring for future transactions. Go to Monitor > Processes > Completed processes, select a process and click the More Options (⠇) menu icon and choose Monitor This for Success or Failure. A Create a new rule page will appear, prefilled with information from the selected transaction. You can add details to specify what to monitor, when to monitor it, and what actions to take, such as raising an alert.
Note: If you lack the necessary permissions to create objects for the Monitor This option in the More Options (⠇) menu. Send the email to your system administrator, requesting the creation of the necessary objects to support monitoring.
