Updating Initialization Parameters for a Server

In IBM® Sterling Control Center, you can update the parameters of an initialization parameter file for a server.

About this task

If you change a parameter, it is validated before the change is applied. If the change is not valid, an error message is displayed and the change is not made.

To update initialization parameters values:

Procedure

  1. Click Initialization Parameters, select Server and Version from the drop down list.
  2. Expand the required initialization parameter section. From the available list, click the overflow menu icon (Overflow menu icon displays a list of actions) > Update Table View / Update Text View of the initialization parameter you want to update.
Note: You will get the option to update only for the Editable parameters.
  3. If you chose Update Table View, you must specify the new value and click Save. Close the window and click Next.
If you chose Update Text View, you must update the parameter you want in the text dialog that holds the Initialization parameter text, and click Validate. Once validation completes successfully, click Next.
  4. To update the initialization parameters only if they match the copy on IBM Sterling Control Center, select Update only if the object on the server matches Control Center's copy. Checking it, would ensure that you do not change the parameters accidentally.
  5. If you wish to provide a name and description to job, enter these in the Job Name and Job Description fields respectively.
  6. Select a timing option for running the job:
    • Now to update the file immediately.
    • Held for later to send the job to the job queue with a Held status.
Note: Select Held for later if you are unsure of your changes or are not finished changing parameters.
    • Schedule for later and then specify a time zone and date/time when the job is to run. This option sends the job to the job queue with a status of Scheduled.

    Click Next.

  7. Click Submit. Now, to return to Initialization parameters page, click Close. Else, click Configuration Jobs to run the held job or view information about the completed job.
Note: If you select Held for later as the job timing option, note down the job number so you can easily find the job in the Queued Jobs.
