Disabling the user key

After you configure and use the user key to encrypt the IBM® Sterling Control Center Monitor root passphrase, you can still disable it. When you disable it, the system key is used to encrypt the root passphrase.

To perform this task, you need to be an IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor administrator. To disable a user key:

  1. Stop all your IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor event processors (EPs).
  2. In the installation_directory/bin directory, run the following command:
    Microsoft Windows UNIX
    configUserKey.bat -disable configUserKey.sh -disable
The system prompts to ask whether you want to disable the user key.
  3. Type Yes and press Enter.
  4. In a high availability environment, run the following command for all other EPs:
    Microsoft Windows UNIX
    configUserKey.bat -sync configUserKey.sh -sync
  5. Restart all EPs in the cluster.
