Example: Enabling high availability when the EP in one data center can connect to the database server in the other data center
In this example, a single IBM® Sterling Control Center Monitor cluster is formed by installing IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor in both data centers.
The sample environment meets the following criteria:
- The active database server can be accessed using a virtual IP address, regardless of where the active database server is located.
- The IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor EP in DC2 can connect to the database server in DC1 using a virtual IP address, such as Oracle SCAN.
- The database is replicated from DC1 to DC2 when DC1 is the active data center; the database is replicated from DC2 to DC1 when DC2 is the active data center.
Important: When IBM Sterling Control Center
Monitor high availability cluster is
configured with multiple active event processors across data centers, the network latency between
data centers must be less than 1 millisecond (1 ms).
