Configuring IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor for connections with IBM Sterling External Authentication Server

You must configure IBM® Sterling Control Center Monitor to communicate with IBM Sterling External Authentication Server to perform external authentication of user credentials.

You must have the Sterling External Authentication Server authentication definition configured before you can configure IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor for external authentication. You also need the address and port number of the Sterling External Authentication Server that IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor uses for external authentication. You can optionally enter a value for the secondary address and port. If the primary server is not available, the secondary server is used if values were provided for it.

Define the communication details for the primary and alternative external authentication servers that you want to use to validate user credentials.

  1. In the IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor web console, click Menu button () > System Settings > External Auth Sever in the left hand-side navigation panel.
  2. Enter the values for the Sterling External Authentication Server Primary Address and Primary Port, and optionally enter values for the Sterling External Authentication Server Alternative Address and Port. When IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor validates user credentials during login, if the primary server is not available, the secondary server is used if values were provided for it.
  3. Enter the Sterling External Authentication Server Profile Name of the authentication definition Sterling External Authentication Server is to use when you are validating credentials for IBM Sterling Control Center Monitor.
  4. To enable a secure connection for the Sterling External Authentication Server, select true.
