Actions on configuration objects

IBM® Sterling Control Center allows you to view, update, delete, and create various configuration objects on managed Connect:Direct servers.

On the configuration object screen, select the Server and Version to view the available configuration objects on the server.

Click the overflow menu icon (Overflow menu icon displays a list of actions) above the grid to export the displayed results in PDF/ CSV format, execute Column Management and Advanced Search, and perform following actions:
  • Create New: Creates a new configuration object. Enter the required details and click Submit to create a Job ID for execution. To know more about Jobs, refer Configuration Jobs. Click Actions to perform following actions on the record.
  • Refresh: Refreshes the Control Center's copy of configuration object to ensure that IBM Sterling Control Center has the latest version. A Job ID is run to execute Refresh.
  • Versions: Click to launch version manager.
  • Re-Key Param File: You can re-key a Sterling Connect:Direct® for UNIX or Sterling Connect:Direct for Microsoft Windows Secure Plus parameter file. To re-key, enter at least 32 characters for a passphrase in the window. It is not necessary to remember these characters for future use.
    Note:
    • This action is applicable to Secure+ Node only.
    • You cannot re-key a Sterling Connect:Direct for z/OS® Secure Plus parameter file.
  • Sync Parm File: You can synchronize a Sterling Connect:Direct Secure Plus parameter file for Sterling Connect:Direct for UNIX or Sterling Connect:Direct for Microsoft Windows with the network map of the corresponding server. You can use this action to resolve differences between the parameter file and the network map.
    Note:
    • This action is applicable to Secure+ Node only.
    • You cannot sync a Sterling Connect:Direct for z/OS Secure Plus parameter file.
  • Validate Parm File: You can instruct a Connect:Direct server to validate it's Secure Plus parameter file.
    Note:
    • This action is applicable to Secure+ Node only.
    • You cannot validate a Secure Plus parameter file for Sterling Connect:Direct for z/OS server.
  • Bulk Actions: If you select multiple records from the grid, you can execute these bulk actions on the selected records:
    • Copy To: Copies the selected records to the chosen Server/Server Groups.
    • Compare: Compares two entries. The Compare action is a powerful feature of the Configuration Manager. You can use Compare to compare two different objects, such as two communication paths, or two versions of the same object. When you do a Compare, the Configuration Object Comparison window shows both objects or versions side by side and highlights the differences between them in red.
      Note: You may or may not be able to view all available configuration objects based on your rights, permissions and server connections.
    • Delete: Deletes the selected records from the chosen Server/Server Groups.
In the displayed grid results, click the overflow menu icon (Overflow menu icon displays a list of actions) of a record to perform the following functions:
Note: You may not find all of the below mentioned features in all configuration objects. The availability of the actions that can be performed depends upon the type and utilization of the configuration object.
  • View Details: Displays all the properties of the respective configuration object. Click Actions (Overflow menu icon displays a list of actions) to perform below options from here.
  • Edit: Updates the properties of configuration object.
  • Duplicate: Duplicates the configuration object on the same server.
    Note: For Secure+ Node, this is named as Create Alias.
  • Copy To: Copies the configuration object to the other selected servers/ server groups.
  • Copy Parameters To: Copies the parameters to the server.
  • Compare: Compares two configuration objects of an Object Type.
  • Delete: Deletes the configuration object from the selected server/server groups.
  • Update Table View / Update Text View: Updates the initialization parameter you want to update.
    Note: This action is applicable on Initialization Parameters only.
