Rolling upgrade considerations for versions after IBM Control Center Monitor V6.1
Starting with IBM® Control Center Monitor V6.1 you can perform rolling upgrades to receive newer versions of IBM Control Center Monitor. You must already be at V6.1 and highly available to perform rolling upgrades.
A rolling upgrade in IBM Control Center Monitor is when you stop one of your event processors (EPs) in your high availability environment for an upgrade but keep your other EPs running. After you complete the upgrade on the EP, you can restart the EP, and stop another EP for an upgrade, while the other EPs are still running. This upgrade process enables your production and monitoring to not stop in your high availability environment.
Database changes contained in a new version of IBM Control Center
Monitor is going to determine if you
can perform a rolling upgrade. The following list is considerations for rolling upgrades for
versions after IBM Control Center
Monitor V6.1:
- If there are no changes to the database, then you can perform rolling upgrades.
- If there is a change to a database index or view, then you can perform rolling upgrades. After an index or view change to the database, there is going to be a warning message in the CCIntall.log log. The warning is for troubleshooting purposes.
- You cannot complete a rolling upgrade if there is a change to the database table or sequence. If you try to upgrade and there was a change to the database table or sequence, then you must stop all of your event processors before the upgrade begins.
