Adding actions

When trigger conditions are met, the decision plan carries out automatic processes known as actions. Add one or more actions to your rule by using the Actions page on the New Rule window.

About this task

For example, you can add actions that set document metadata, run matching on a knowledge base to generate category scores, move documents to the most relevant folders that correspond to top-scoring categories, and so on.

Several types of actions are available, depending on how you use IBM® Content Classification to classify content. For example, if you plan to classify content into relevant folders in an IBM FileNet® Content Manager repository, select an option in the list of IBM FileNet Content Manager actions.

To add and configure actions:

Procedure

  1. On the New Rule or Edit Rule Actions page, click Add.
  2. On the Select New Action window, select one of the following options in the Action type list:
    General Actions
    Common classification actions that apply to most applications, such as setting the value of a content field.
    Start of change IBM Content Collector Actions End of change
    Start of change Actions designed for IBM Content Collector. End of change
    IBM FileNet Content Manager Actions
    Actions designed for IBM FileNet Content Manager and IBM Enterprise Records (formerly FileNet Records Manager). Configure and run classification processes by using the Classification Center application.
    IBM Content Manager Actions
    Actions designed for IBM Content Manager. Configure and run classification processes by using the Classification Center application.
    File System Actions
    Actions designed for file system content. Configure and run classification processes by using the Classification Center application.
    Advanced Actions
    Actions that can be configured and combined for custom classification applications.
  3. In the Select action list, select an action.
  4. Click Next and configure action settings.

What to do next

Tip: Actions are carried out in the order in which they are displayed on the Actions page. If you add multiple actions, you can change the order of actions by using the Up Arrow and the Down Arrow.
