Unfiled documents

In the IBM FileNet Collaboration Services client applications, every document resides under a single parent folder. In IBM Content Cortex, a document can be filed under multiple folders, or none. The latter type is called an unfiled document.

Unfiled documents cannot be located by browsing in any folder-based user interface. They are visible in search results, and can also be found through internal relationships such as workflow attachments in IBM Case Foundation.

Unfiled documents cannot be located, viewed or managed in any client application that is based on the Lotus Quickr content services API, but they can be returned in results of searches.

It's possible for documents in a Content Cortex-based library to be inadvertently unfiled by users with another Content Cortex application, in which case the document will appear to have been deleted or otherwise lost. IBM FileNet Enterprise Manager and Administration Console for Content Platform Engine include a utility for quickly identifying unfiled documents:
  1. Open IBM FileNet Enterprise Manager or Administration Console for Content Platform Engine and log into the Content Cortex Content Platform Engine server containing your libraries.
  2. In the left pane, click on the name of the object store containing your libraries.
  3. Click the Unfiled documents folder toward the bottom of the left pane. IBM FileNet Enterprise Manager or Administration Console for Content Platform Engine will list all unfiled documents in the right pane.
  4. You may use IBM FileNet Enterprise Manager or Administration Console for Content Platform Engine to file any of the listed documents in a new location.
