Content references
IBM Content Cortex documents can contain content references in addition to binary content. A document with a content reference does not store the actual document content but instead has a URL that points to the content location.
It is not possible to create or edit content references with IBM FileNet Collaboration Services. However, documents with content references created by other IBM Content Cortex client applications might be exposed.
A download request for a document with a content reference is returned as a redirect to the content's URL. This URL might be inaccessible to the end user or the client software might not handle the redirect correctly. Therefore, content references might work well in some environments, but IBM FileNet Collaboration Services does not support them.
In all other respects, a document with a content reference can be managed by using IBM FileNet Collaboration Services, just like any other document. Uploading will create a new content element containing binary content, not a reference, and may replace the content reference.
